Our Classes... RELIGION: The Holy Spirit Blesses the Church Our second unit focuses on how the Holy Spirit blesses the Church now and throughout history. Lessons will center on the Third Article of the Apostle's Creed and on how God used Martin Luther to bring about Reformation in the Church. There is no memory work this week. READING: Benchmarking This week, teachers continue to assess students' current reading levels so that we can understand their needs and enable them to keep growing in their reading skills. WRITING: Personal Narrative Students are working on developing a personal narrative (true autobiographical story) into a more complete story. As they work on this, they are focusing on organizing their writing in chronological sequence and on considering the traits of good writing. SPELLING: No spelling list this week SOCIAL STUDIES: Our Environment Chapter 1 asks the question, "How do we interact with our planet?" In this chapter, students get a basic overview of the geography of the United States; learn about how different environments affect people, plants, and animals; consider how people use natural resources; and ponder the importance of environmental conservation.
