Our Classes... This week, we will be continuing forward in our classes, but at a lowered intensity, allowing us to celebrate our Savior's birth and finish a few items before the break. There will be no tests this week.

Our Classes... RELIGION: Jesus Bring Salvation Our fourth unit will look at the events of Christmas as well as the Christ's death and resurrection as we examine the purpose and significance of His birth. Students need to know Luke 2:15-18 for Thursday's Christmas program. MATH: Multiplication Tables of 6, 7, 8, and 9 Chapter 6 focuses on using a variety of models to multiply. READING: Inferences In our current theme, students learn about making inferences while they read. WRITING: Letters We will be working on writing Christmas letters/cards to elderly people in our congregation. SPELLING: Christmas Word List This week's list looks at words that have to do with Christmas. Please check the Vocabulary A-Z website for our current spelling list and corresponding activities. Our Christmas spelling test will be on Thursday. SOCIAL STUDIES: Economics Chapter 2 asks the question, "How do people get what they want and what they need?" In this chapter, students learn how people make economic choices to get what they need and want, consider how people use different kinds of resources to produce goods and services, and investigate how people can increase their human capital. SCIENCE: Types of Animals In this chapter, the big idea is, "Animals can be classified by their traits." We will be looking at what animals need to live and the traits of various kinds of vertebrates and invertebrates. A Few Notes...

READING: Inferences In our current theme, students learn about making inferences while they read. Also, please watch for the small group assignment sheets at home Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. WRITING: Ideas Students will be working on a story based on a problem solution organizational pattern. As they do this, they will be focusing on the writing trait of ideas. When considering ideas, writers strive to fully develop ideas and to make sure their writing does not go off-topic. SPELLING: List 6a - Silent Consonants b, h, w List 6a mostly looks mainly at words with a silent b, h, or w.
