Our Classes... RELIGION: God the Father's Gracious Gifts This unit looks at how God crated the universe and everything in it and how He gives us the responsibility of caring for it. We also see how God continues to take care of the universe and each of us personally. There memory work test on Ephesians 5:1-2 is on Thursday. SPELLING: No spelling list this week (I changed plans from last week.) READING: Benchmarking Instead of meeting in small groups this week, we will be benchmarking students to assess their current reading levels and needs. WRITING: Word Choice and Procedural Texts We are carefully considering the words we use and are beginning to write texts that explain how to do something precisely. SOCIAL STUDIES: Communities Build a Nation Chapter 3 asks the question, "How does our past affect our present?" In this chapter, students learn about the original inhabitants of North America and how and why other people came to America. They also learn about how American exploration and settlement caused changes in the lives of people at the time and how it affects our lives today. SCIENCE: Living Things Depend on One Another In this chapter, the big idea is, "All the living things need energy to survive and grow." We look at the roles of different organisms in an ecosystem, at food chains, and at food webs.
