Time for Rest
As we look at Jesus' life and ministry, we see that he set aside times to get away and have some quiet. This was a time to pray and recharge.
This week, students will be involved in standardized testing for a couple hours every day. This can be a stressful time for them. As such, we will be taking a rest from homework this week. There will be no homework and no tests. In addition to this, please help to ensure that your children have time at home to relax and to play outside. While many kids love to play inside, playing actively outside really helps to recharge them, allowing them to achieve greater levels of focus when needed. Also, please ensure that they have healthy meals and snacks and that they get a good amount of sleep at night.
RELIGION: God's Love Leads Us to Respond with Love
This unit looks at confession and absolution, as well as worship. A Few Additional Thoughts...
Fourth Quarter Chapel Offering-Fond Blanc Orphanage, Haiti: Money from the fourth quarter offerings will be used to help feed chickens and building a chicken coop for Fond Blanc Oprhanage, the destination of Mrs. Schempf's summer mission trip. Our offerings will help enable the children to add chicken and eggs to their regular twice daily meals of rice and bean, providing much needed protein. Students may bring their offerings in the plastic egg they were provided.
Cave of the Mounds Field Trip: On Tuesday, May 31st, grades K-3 will be going on a field trip to Cave of the Mounds. This is the day after Memorial Day. We will plan to leave GSLS on the bus at 8:15 and will return before 3:00. We will take the cave tour and attend an educational program from 9:30-11:30. We will then eat lunch on site and take a short hike. The cost for adults is $14. The cost of the bus and student ticket is paid for by the PTL. Since I need an exact count, please answer the field trip survey being sent on Class Messenger.
Tuesday Tutoring: On Tuesdays, I am now available to work with students who would like some extra instruction in areas that are challenging for them. Parents of interested students must use email or Classroom Messenger to contact me by the prior Monday and should state the subject in consideration.
