A Connection Between Birth and Death
A few weeks ago the students and I sat down in a corner of the church and had a chat around a dead tree. That might sound a little strange, but that's what we did. If you've been to church lately, you may have noticed a rough cross standing in one of the corners, a cross made simply of pine logs. What you might not realize is that this symbol of Jesus' death was made from the very tree that decorated the church during the Christmas season. This symbol serves as a reminder that the whole reason Jesus was born was to die on that cross as payment for our sins. What a great reminder... Jesus became a human baby, lived His sinless life, taught the people, healed the sick, died on a cross and rose from the dead all so that you can join Him in everlasting life at the end of time. Praise God!
A few additional notes...
Spring Choir Concert: The concert takes place on March 27th at 7:00. Please mark your calendars and make it a priority to attend. Mrs. Wrolstad has been doing some amazing work with the kids, and the concert promises to be a wonderful night. While there is no official uniform or costume for the evening, students should come dressed nicely in "performance" or "church" clothes.
Grand Friend's Day: Grand Friend's Day is scheduled for the morning of April 11th. Please help to ensure that your child has a grandparent or older friend/relative who will share this day with your child.
Name Tags: Students are designing new name tags for their desks and are asked to return these to school by this coming Friday, March 28th. Students may use any method to design their name tags. Name tags should be half a page and have the student's name and number written clearly and in large writing. Other design elements are up to individual students.
Lutherans for Life: Third quarter's chapel offerings are going to Lutherans for Life, an organization dedicated to maintaining the sanctity of life. Dr. Lamb, the executive directer of LFL, came to our school recently and shared with us the message that God has created, redeemed, and desires to call every life into an eternal relationship with him.
Outside Clothing: With the changing seasons, the weather is a bit unpredictable. Please keep an eye on the weather to help ensure that your child comes to school in appropriate clothing.
