The Right Thing To Do!
This week, our class began reading the serial story The Hundred Dollar Cat as published in the Watertown Daily Times. This story, written by Frances Milburn, tells of a boy with an ethical dilemma, "What do you do when you receive way too much change?" It has been an interesting conversation with the students as they think about what they would do if they were the main character in this story. I encourage you to talk with your children about this moral question as well as asking them similar questions when discussing their reading or a television show or movie. It gives them a chance to exercise their faith and make it more real.
A few additional notes...
Congratulations: Way to go, Savannah, Gabrielle, Johnathon, and Olivia! These students were top fundraisers in the PTL Walkathon and will be rewarded with the chance to go out to lunch with Mr. Gerlach on an upcoming school day. Our class, as a whole, also did quite well and will therefore be able to enjoy watching a movie and having popcorn in a future afternoon.
Lutheran Bible Translators: This quarter's chapel offerings go to Becky Grossman in her work with Lutheran Bible Translators to help people around the world in having a Bible in their home languages.
Upcoming Teacher Conference: Due to the LCMS National Teacher Conference on October 24-25, there will be no school.
